On Meadowview Street by Henry Cole: Caroline lives on Meadowview Street. But where’s the meadow? Where’s the view? There’s nothing growing in her front yard except grass. Then she spots a flower and a butterfly and a bird and Caroline realizes that with her help, maybe Meadowview Street can have a meadow after all.

Activity: Make a recycled seed ball!
Create a seed ball to start of your own wildlife habitat at home! Here are the steps:
 Mash recycled shredded paper with water to create paper pulp.
 Squeeze out the excess water. Flatten and sprinkle with dill seeds. Roll into a ball.
 Throw seed ball into your garden! Dill is a host plant for swallowtail caterpillars and a delicious herb for your kitchen.

Carrot Soup by John Segal: Rabbit’s favorite time of year is spring, when he can plant his garden. He plows, plants, waters, weeds, and waits for his carrots to grow, while looking forward to eating carrot soup. But at harvest time, he finds that all of his beloved plants are gone. As he asks his neighbors if they have seen his produce, each one skillfully avoids answering. Disappointed, Rabbit returns home to discover that his friends have organized a party and cooked his favorite soup.

Activity: Toss together your own carrot soup!
What ingredients will you put in YOUR carrot soup? Choose your (plastic) vegetables and toss them into the soup pot from afar – how many of your ingredients make it in?

We hope you can join us!
