The opening night is a popular event, so you may want to arrive early (4 p.m.) and enjoy the Garden and displays prior to the evening activities. Carpooling is also encouraged.
Schedule of Events:
4 p.m. – Doors open
5 p.m. Everyone is invited to assemble on the Terrace Lawn and Rose Garden for special 30-minute performances:
5, 6, and 7 p.m. Fire spinning from Host of Sparrows Aerial Circus in the Rose Garden.
5:30 p.m. The Garden Keeper and a representative from NBC12 will flip the giant light switch in the Rose Garden and the Garden will be illuminated.
5:35 p.m. and 6: 30 p.m. Circular Expressions LED Hula Hoopers perform on the Conservatory Lawn.
6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Barefoot Puppet Theatre performs “Dreamtime, Tales from Down Under” in the Kelly Education Center Auditorium.
Experience the magic of “The Land Down Under” in this performance inspired by Aboriginal folktales. A young platypus, Billy, has a tough time being nocturnal. Going to sleep in the middle of the day? His mother tries to help him settle in by sharing two stories from the Australian Dreamtime. In these “How and Why” tales, you’ll learn how the emu became a flightless bird and also meet a giant, bloated, ocean-swallowing frog!
