Lecture:
Putting Botanical Art to Work

Members of the Botanical Artists for Education & the Environment (BAEE) are committed to fostering the use and conservation of native plants, while pursuing excellence in botanical art. Join us for a presentation about their recent project and book, American Botanical Paintings: Native Plants of the Mid Atlantic and learn about how these contemporary plant portraits were created. We compare a sampling of these captivating native plant paintings to portraits of the same plant by 18th century naturalist and artist Mark Catesby. Proceeds from the sale of the books have been used to fund grants for the betterment of our communities. And last, lessons-learned are shared to inspire similar native plant botanical art projects in other locations.
