Photographer Hal Horwitz discusses his exhibit: In Praise of Native Orchids, a companion exhibit to Orchids Galore!. A retired pediatric dentist, Hal is a native and resident of Richmond, VA. He has photographed people, places and things – above and below water – for over forty years. Twenty years ago he became fascinated with wildflowers and has since photographed little else. Hal developed a special interest in the orchids native to North America and to date, has photographed nearly all the North American species.
