Children's Garden Spring Fling

Kick off the gardening season at the Children’s Garden Spring Fling!
This community celebration offers family-friendly music, entertainment and activities, and promotes environmental stewardship.

SPECIAL ACTIVITY!

Be part of the Naming Ceremony for the Patrick Dougherty Sculpture.
2 p.m. Impromptu parade starting at the Children's Garden and ending at the sculpture. Dougherty is a world-famous "stick artist"; he's been working on this captivating sculpture for three weeks and, after much anticipation, will name it today! (Watch the progress of this Meadowmorphosis through video and photos.)

Other Activities:

WaterPlay (weather permitting)

Live Music: The Richmond Indigenous Gourd Orchestra creates original music played on handmade instruments made from locally grown gourds. 

Challege Hunt: Find "Stickman" and help him send a note or picture home to his family.

"Stick Works Studio": Weave, twist and bend willow whips and other natural materials to create a temporary Patrick Doughtery- inspired work.

Garden Weavers: Work with Children's Garden staff to create beautiful woven works of art for the Garden.

Weaving Demonstration: Clothos Handspinners demonstrate traditional weaving techniques using natural plant fibers.

Box Art: Get creative with us in the Garden with boxes.

Food available for purchase at the Garden Cafe'

Keep Henrico Beautiful (one of the Garden's Green Partners) will be represented during the Spring Fling.
