SATURDAY & SUNDAY
- Noon - 3 p.m. Garden Guides welcome you into historic Bloemendaal House (formerly Lewis Ginter's Lakeside Wheel Club, c. 1894) amid strains of ragtime-era music by the Titanic String Band (Peter LaBau, banjo and Mitch Nelin, manda-cello).
- Noon - 3 p.m. Purchase a cone of hand-dipped ice cream on the Bloemendaal lawn
- 12:30 , 1:30 & 2:30 p.m. Through informal interviews with costumed interpreters, learn more about the lives and legacies of Lewis Ginter and his niece Grace Arents. Location: Grace Arents Garden/Bloemendaal House area
- Noon - 2 p.m. A quartet from The Virginians Barbershop Chorus will stroll and serenade guests between the Robins Visitors Center and the Conservatory.
- Noon, 1 and 2 p.m. Lewis Ginter biography video produced by Henrico County Television (shown in the Education and Library Complex Auditorium; running time: 30 minutes)
- 12:45, 1 :45 & 2:45 p.m. The Wheelmen, a group of bicyclists from throughout the mid-Atlantic region dedicated to the "enjoyment and preservation of bicycling heritage," will demonstrate their riding prowess atop vintage high-wheeled bicycles. Location: Near Bloemendaal House
- 1 - 3 p.m. The Garden's new anniversary book Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden: 25 Years and Growing will be available for purchase in the Garden Shop, where Executive Director Frank Robinson, the book's editor, will sign copies.
- Children's croquet and lawn games; "dress up" trunk for kids; Locations: Children's Garden and area near Bloemendaal House; weather permitting.
SUNDAY ONLY
- 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Special Sunday celebration lunch in the Tea House. Reservations suggested: (804) 262-9887, ext. 329; Garden admission required.
MENU: Regular Tea House brunch menu plus:
Omelets: smoked salmon & Brie; Smithfield ham & cheddar
Belgian waffles with blueberry compote and sausage links
Eggs Chesapeake: sweet potato biscuits with Smithfield ham, poached eggs, crab & hollandaise with steamed asparagus
