Dominion GardenFest Illumination

Friday, Nov. 23, 2012

Details:

Ticketed event, learn more about Dominion GardenFest of Lights including ticketing and planning your visit. GardenFest runs nightly 5-10 p.m. Nov. 23, 2012 - Monday, January 7, 2013 (closed Dec. 24 & 25). GardenFest is "rain or shine"event.
Please note: phone and online tickets must be purchased the day before your visit (by 5 p.m.) in order to be processed and placed in will-call.

The opening night is a popular event, so you may want to arrive early (4 p.m.) and enjoy the Garden and displays prior to the evening activities. Carpooling is also encouraged.

5 p.m. River City Taiko will greet guests with the captivating sounds of their drums. Guests can enjoy the Garden, although the holiday lights won't be on -- yet! Representatives from Dominion will be passing out glow sticks (while supplies last) at entrances to the Visitors Center. Everyone is invited to assemble on the Terrace Lawn in front of the Rose Garden to help count down to the Illumination.

5:30 p.m. The River City Taiko drummers will help "beat" the countdown as a representative from Ch. 12 leads the crowd in counting. The Garden Keeper, Butterfly Fairy and representatives from Dominion will flip the giant light switch and the Garden will be illuminated.

5:30 - 6:30 p.m. The Jow Ga Kuen Lion Dance Team will dazzle the crowd as they parade in this year's GardenFest of Lights. At 6pm, the River City Taiko drummers will perform another pounding set. Fun for the whole family!

Afterwards, guest can enjoy all Dominion GardenFest of Lights has to offer (open till 10 p.m.)

Help Feed the Hungry and You Could Win a Family Membership
Throughout the opening weekend (Nov. 23 - 25), guests to Dominion GardenFest of Lights can donate to FeedMore's Central Virginia Foodbank at Garden admissions desks. Each dollar donated gives you a chance to win a Garden family membership. A winner will be drawn each of the three nights. This is part of the Garden's ongoing commitment to helping feed the hungry. During this past growing season, the Community Kitchen Garden at Lewis Ginter grew and donated 10,000 lbs. of fresh produce to FeedMore.
