Splendor Under Glass Gala 2013

Saturday, November 23, 2013

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden’s Splendor Under Glass fundraiser is an invitation-only, black tie gala staged in the dramatic and spectacular glass Conservatory. The theme for 2013 is "Entwined".

On November 23, 2013, we will come together for an evening “Entwined” with nature in support of Lewis Ginter’s core mission to enlighten, inspire and educate us all about the world of plants, and our ever-vital role in stewardship and preservation. The evening will honor Ann Lee Saunders Brown (Mrs. Charles L. Brown), whose long-standing love for the Garden is legendary. Splendor Under Glass 2013 is presented by Bon Secours Virginia Health System.

“Entwined” promises a sensory experience – visual and culinary – where a sumptuously prepared seated dinner will highlight locally sourced food and where naturally divine décor promises to delight your senses. Unique this year will be our first Garden Market – Lush & Local - where one-of-a-kind, locally made specialty items, each exquisitely hand-crafted, will be available for purchase. Entertainment guarantees to enliven the evening.

The Garden’s first Splendor Under Glass was held in March 2003, celebrating the grand opening of the Conservatory and was highlighted in the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Virginia Living Magazine and Richmond Magazine. With such a beautiful setting, the Gala continues to be a premiere Richmond event year after year.

Splendor Under Glass 2013 is presented by Bon Secours Virginia Health Systems. Contributing sponsors include MeadWestvaco; CapTech. The event is chaired by Madeline Hutcheson Mayhood. Catering is by Meriwether Godsey.

Proceeds from Splendor Under Glass support the Garden’s mission to enlighten, inspire and educate the community, allowing the Garden to grow special outreach programs and projects. Through educational programs for disadvantaged youth, donated produce for the Central Virginia Foodbank and our role as a consultant for special community gardens and park resources, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden impacts the growth of not only plants, but our community.
