Saturday, November 17, 2012

Details:
Ticketed event; sold out.
Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden’s pre-holiday gala Splendor Under Glass is Saturday, November 17, 2012. Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. The black-tie fundraiser for the non-profit Garden takes place in the Conservatory overlooking the holiday lights and is a preview of the popular Dominion GardenFest of Lights display which opens to the public the following Friday, November 23.
This year’s Splendor Under Glass is “An Enchanted Evening under the Cherry Blossoms” and proceeds support the Garden’s mission including the Children’s Garden and its important educational programs. The evening includes a seated dinner and live entertainment. A silent auction runs in conjunction with the Splendor Under Glass gala. From November 2 – 17, anyone can bid on silent auction items in categories featuring food, trips, artwork and more at www.biddingforgood.com/SUG. Some items will close before the gala on November 17; others will close the night of the event.
Splendor Under Glass 2012 is presented by Bon Secours Virginia Health Systems. Supporting sponsors include BB&T; CapitalOne Bank; Hourigan Construction; MeadWestvaco; Dominion Resources, Inc.; NewMarket Corporation; Patient First Corporation and Wells Fargo. Honorary chairs are Mr. and Mrs. Dennis I. Belcher. The event is co-chaired by Peyton Wells and Jennifer Rector. Catering is by Meriwether Godsey. The event is sold out.
Proceeds from Splendor Under Glass support the Garden’s mission to enlighten, inspire and educate the community, allowing the Garden to grow special outreach programs and projects. Through educational programs for disadvantaged youth, donated produce for the Central Virginia Foodbank and our role as a consultant for special community gardens and park resources, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden impacts the growth of not only plants, but our community.
