5 Cool Places in the Garden

Trying to Beat the Heat? May We Suggest:

WaterPlay at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

WaterPlay in the Children’s Garden.

Kids love it and, while designed for the age 11 and under set, adults can stand along the edges and still manage to get a decent soaking! During the summer it's open daily 9 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. weather permitting. WaterPlay is also open til 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday nights through the end of August as part of Families After 5.

Tree House at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

Tree House in the Children’s Garden.

Even on the hottest days, there’s usually a cool breeze thirteen feet up in the air in the shady CWDKids Tree House. It's wheelchair accessible, too!

Library at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

Library in the Education and Library Complex. Find a comfy chair and browse through gardening magazines and books; get an up-close look at Glorious Glass in the Garden sculptures and watch the Transformed by Flame documentary showing how these exquisite pieces are created.

Woodland Walk at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

Woodland Walk. This shady path in the Flagler Garden has a leafy canopy and a gurgling stream offers the cooling sound of water.

Garden Cafe at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

Garden Café and Garden Shop. Enjoy refreshing salads, cold beverages and more in the Garden Café; browse in the Garden Shop for items for your home and garden. Both are in the Visitors Center.
