A Million Blooms

The Garden's busiest time of year with major events including Easter, Heritage Weekend, Historic Garden Week, Plant Sale and Mother's Day. New in 2014: More tours, demonstrations and hands-on activities for children and adults.

Experience the wonderful world of butterflies! This indoor exhibit in the Conservatory is geared for all ages. Get up close and personal as hundreds of tropical butterflies feed, flutter and take flight.

More than half a million twinkling lights delight young and old alike. Evenings feature crafts, caroling, fireside storytelling, s'mores toasting and more! And in anticipation of the 2015 World Road Championship, upcoming GardenFest features a Cycling Theme.

The Garden's annual fundraising gala is a black tie event attended by leading members of the corporate and philanthropic community. Proceeds support Children's Education.
Cheers to Art

Sponsorship Range: $1,000 - $5,000
Started in 2010 by the Garden's Board of Associates, this annual art, food and music event attracts 250 guests and transforms the Garden into a lively gallery. The 100-piece collection promotes both local and national artists.

Share the Garden
This special program expands access to the Garden, providing hands-on education to at-risk students and their teachers. Another focus area is growing healthy food for our hungry neighbors. By offsetting the cost of admission and supplies, this program makes the joy of the Garden available to people who can most benefit from the experience.
Community Kitchen Garden
With the help of 300 volunteers and 1,740 hours, the Community Kitchen Garden has produced more than 30,000 lbs. of fresh fruits and vegetables for FeedMore and the Central Virginia Foodbank. In less than five years we've harvested enough to fresh veggies to supplement 120,000 meals!
Hands-on education is crucial to the success of students, and Lewis Ginter is one of the few accessible sites in the city equipped to provide meaningful education opportunities outdoors. By offering structured programs, drop-in learning and teacher workshops, Lewis Ginter served more than 50,000 children in 2013.
Our classes, symposia and travel opportunities attract all audiences - from the weekend hobbyist to the professional landscape designer - thanks to speakers and subject-matter experts from around the Mid-Atlantic.
