Guided Tours for Your Group

Schedule a guided tour with one of our skilled Garden Guides to give your group special attention and an opportunity to share their “insider’s knowledge” of the Garden.  We offer engaging tours on a number of different topics.

General guided tour information:

  • Average tour length: 1 hour (unless otherwise noted)
  • Tours must be scheduled a minimum of two weeks in advance
  • Tours are available during regular Garden hours
  • The cost is $14 per person (effective April 1) (includes guided tour and Garden admission) for groups of 15 or more. Groups with fewer than 15 pay the minimum fee of $210.
  • Tours are designed for adult or senior groups
  • We provide one Garden Guide for every 15-20 people
  • Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Transportation around the Garden cannot be provided.
  • Complimentary admission for tour coordinator and bus driver
  • Minimum headcount and payment is due seven business days prior to your visit, with final headcount and payment 2 business days in advance.

From Bicycle Club to Botanical Garden

Availability: Year Round

Find out how the beauty of today’s botanical garden began in the bicycle craze of the 1890s. Your experienced Guide will share seasonal highlights and let you see why the Travel Channel calls this one of the “Best Botanical Gardens in the U.S.”

Heart of the Garden Tour

Availability: Year Round

Explore the Central Garden closest to the Robins Visitor Center. Enjoy the Conservatory displays, the Fountain Garden, Healing Garden, Four Seasons Garden and Rose Garden (during peak season only). Visit the current exhibit in the Gallery space of the Kelly Education Center.  All paths are flat and ramps are available. Benches and restrooms are conveniently located.  Garden Guides can pace the visit to suit your group. Abundant displays from orchids to artwork make this a rewarding visit without extensive walking. Groups are free to visit the rest of the garden at their own pace after the tour.

Guided Group Tour: Nature Connects®: Art with LEGO® Bricks

Availability: May 27 – September 18  NEW

Join your expert Guide for a tour of discovery, and experience the 14 displays of playful sculptures crafted from nearly half-a-million colorful LEGO bricks.  Hear fun facts about the toy shared across generations as you enjoy making connections in the growing garden.  Find out how the 60-pound bumblebee and 6-foot bison both illustrate stories of relationships in nature.  Get some behind-the-scenes information to make your tour complete.

The Asian Valley Experience

Availability: Year Round

Slowly stroll the winding paths between the quiet pools and lichen covered rocks. Focus on the landscape details until the sculptural trees and muted colors bring a serene sense of being close to nature. Your volunteer Garden Guide will lead you in discovering seasonal surprises.

Our World of Trees

Availability: Year Round

If our landmark trees could talk they would tell you many tales. Volunteer Garden Guides enjoy speaking for them and showing you fascinating aspects of their bark, flowers, roots, and even knees. Tours visit many parts of the site and always enjoy the most memorable seasonal highlights.

Who Was Alexandre Descubes?

Availability: Year Round

Did you know that the Garden owns 2500 botanical watercolor paintings? Learn the history and explore the mystery behind the collection as you experience the excitement of our own “history detectives” as they uncover the background of our artist. Hear about the origins of botanical gardens on the Indian sub-continent and the daring exploits of 18th and 19th century plant hunters. This tour is mostly indoors and requires very little walking.

Dominion GardenFest of Lights Early Bird Tour

Availability: November 28, 2016 – January 9, 2017

Reserve a time for your private group of 15 to 40 adults to enjoy an early-evening exploration of Dominion GardenFest of Lights with a knowledgeable Garden Guide.  Admire the unique handcrafted botanical decorations, the enchantment of model trains and lavish seasonal displays. Be on site as darkness falls and the magical light display is revealed.
