Butterflies LIVE! Closing Weekend

Included with Regular Garden admission 

Visit  M&T Bank Butterflies LIVE! one last time to say “bye-bye butterflies!” Saturday and Sunday enjoy family fun activities, create butterfly inspired art and engage with our Butterfly Curators as they discuss the importance of these popular pollinators!

Butterflies LIVE! will be open 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Stay tuned for more info on events and activities!

Event Details

The prize for the Butterfly's Choice Award goes to Greater Richmond Grid for their photo of the girl looking through a magnifying glass at an owl butterfly.

Come and learn some Lepidoptera basics and moth myths! Swing by the Grow Cart for information on Monarch butterflies, their ecosystem, and how we can each make a difference for in helping Monarchs and preserving their habitat.  Plus, we’ll take a closer look at moths.

Saturday

Meet us at the Grow Cart in front of the Conservatory for a butterfly craft for children, educational materials, and butterfly and moth talks.

Guides in the Garden – Volunteer Garden Guides will be on hand in several areas of the Garden to answer questions and share fun and interesting facts as you explore the Garden during the closing weekend of Butterflies LIVE! This is a drop-in activity and does not require pre-registration.

Drop-in Butterfly Walk: Join a guided walk around the Garden looking for butterflies and other pollinators. Learn what Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden does and plants to support native butterflies and pollinators. This walk is family-friendly.  This 30-minute drop-in tour will meet in the Atrium. Space is limited, so arrive early to claim a spot!
