This course is both theoretical and experiential. Students learn about and discuss the origins of mindfulness practices; engage in the natural and traditional movements supporting the mind-body component of mindfulness; and be supported in the development of their personal mindfulness practice as a tool for stress management and self-awareness.

SUMMARY:Rogério Lupo Graphite Techniques for Scientific Illustration
DESCRIPTION:Beautiful artwork is created with value—the degree of light and dark in a specific subject. Working in pencil\, develop values and master seamless gradations from the lightest lights to the darkest darks without the usual graphite sheen. A simple exercise trains each student to draw incredible detail using practical rendering of textures and different colors of objects represented as shades of gray; to recognize luminosities\, reflections and contrasts; and to execute useful and fast forms to render hairs and thorns. Each participant will design a composition and begin an original work using tricks to draw viewers’ eyes to the focal point.  See below for additional details\, materials list and link to the online workbook.

Instructor Jesse The Beekeeper from EastCoastHoney provides a series of hands-on demonstrations\, assistance with ordering honey bees\, beekeeping equipment and setting up your hive. He can also be available to provide on-site consultation once your hive has been installed. Participants will be ready to install a package of honey bees in April 2019 and be off on their journey as beekeepers.
