SUMMARY:Sepia: Intermediate to Advanced Watercolor
DESCRIPTION:This program is cancelled. \nSepia allows for the creation of a detailed painting\, focusing on structure and form\, without the challenge of color matching. Students will continue to hone watercolor techniques and brush skills using sepia to develop form by observing and painting light and shadow while continuing to build experience in watercolor brush techniques such as wet-on-wet\, wet-on-dry\, and dry brush. The classes will also emphasize the observation of detail to create a monochrome work depicting the accurate size and structure of a dry specimen of the students’ choosing. Students will be supplied with a subject for the first class. For subsequent classes\, they will be asked to bring subject matter (leaves\, twigs\, seed pods\, etc.) for use in observing structural detail and developing finished paintings. DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, January 29 – Sunday\, February 26\, 2023\nIncluded with Regular Garden admission and Free for Members \nPlease note: The Garden Member Preview on Saturday\, January 28\, from 5 – 8 p.m. is sold out. \n \nExplore the art and wonder of Bonsai with a unique opportunity to view specimen pieces from private collections including conifer\, deciduous and tropical trees. The display includes yamadori (trees collected from the wild) and urbandori (trees collected from urban settings) as well as imports from fine nurseries across Asia and America. On view will be trees that have been under cultivation for more than 30 years with ages that range well over 100 years old. The exhibition includes about 25 specimens at any given time and with new selections weekly\, so visit often to see the full display! \nThe exhibit showcases the work of Todd Stewart and Bob Chilton\, two leading bonsai experts from Gardens Unlimited.
