SUMMARY:GALLERY5 PRESENTS AN INCANTO EVENING OF BODY AND MIND
DESCRIPTION:On August 11th we are excited to explore the many aspects of life that make us uniquely who we are. How we move and express ourselves makes us who we are! For this event we’ll have the yoga and meditation guides from The Art Of Us studios in Carytown on hand for a large group yoga and meditation session in the gardens. \nKat\, co-owner of TAOU Studio\, artfully crafts each teaching experience with creativity and intention. She believes that through this practice we can practically\, actively\, and consciously move through ourselves\, with ourselves\, in order to know ourselves better on & off the mat. \nKatie\, co-owner of TAOU Studio\, believes art and movement have incredible power to shift our perspectives and improve our lives in meaningful ways. As a yoga instructor\, massage therapist\, and photographer\, she has a deep reverence for bodies and what they are capable of overcoming and achieving. \nThis event will also include a workshop curated by Richmond Young Writers to help young minds express themselves through literature. To close out this event we’ll also have a special Poetry Reading curated by Gallery5. Local poets like “#PoemsforPeopleRVA” will share their words and vibes with the audience. Come explore expression and motion with some of Richmond’s finest community organizations! \n  \nExperience INCANTO: AN OASIS OF LYRICAL SCULPTURE all summer long!\n“Seed of Self” Photo by Tom Hennessy \nDramatically lit from within\, the Incanto sculptures offer multi-sensory experiences inviting further exploration at night.\n \nOn the second Friday evening of each month May\, June\, July\, August\, and September\, the Garden collaborates with Gallery5 and other community partners on programming related to the Incanto exhibit. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Finding Connection Through Awe
DESCRIPTION:Exposing ourselves to big or small awe-inspiring experiences\, especially those in nature\, taps into our feelings and emotions and reminds us we are a part of something bigger. In a world where many people feel lonely and disconnected\, our relationship with nature–our life source–is the foundation to our sense of belonging and purpose. Finding awe deepens our connection with the natural world\, ourselves\, and others. In this workshop\, we will examine our own story with nature\, stretching back to our earliest memories of the natural world. We will share our moments of awe\, unearth our feelings around nature through photos\, explore our ecological self through a series of reflective questions\, and find awe in the Garden by observing through different perspectives. Sharing and discussion will be encouraged! \nAll programs are subject to change. \nLewis Ginter Botanical Garden strives to be a Garden for all and we are committed to offering diverse adult learning opportunities that are inclusive and accessible to all learners. SUMMARY:Exploring Our Ecological Self
DESCRIPTION:The reciprocal relationship between nature and people has significant\, research-supported positive implications on physical\, social and emotional health and wellness\, and on human communities and culture. But most of us never pause from our busy lives to closely examine our place in the natural world\, or our relationship with it. Using the Incanto sculpture\, Ancestors\, as inspiration\, we’ll delve deeper into our relationships with our ancestors and the role they play in cultivating our relationship with nature. We’ll explore the development of our “ecological self\,” or a self that transcends individualism to recognize the healing that we can achieve for ourselves\, our community\, and our natural world when we live in harmony with all living beings. Instructor Sarah Croscutt will guide you in a visit to the Ancestors sculpture in Flagler Garden as part of this class. You’ll walk away feeling a renewed sense of connection to your ancestors\, the natural world\, and yourself. \nWe believe that all adults in our community should have access to plant-based\, nature-focused learning opportunities. We offer several pricing tiers so you can register at the amount you’re able to pay. Thank you for your contribution. \n• Sustainer: $30 \n• Supporter: $20 \n• Contributor: $10 \n• Attendee: $0 \nAll programs are subject to change. \nLewis Ginter Botanical Garden strives to be a Garden for all and we are committed to offering diverse adult learning opportunities that are inclusive and accessible to all learners.
