SUMMARY:GALLERY5 PRESENTS AN INCANTO EVENING OF BODY AND MIND
DESCRIPTION:On August 11th we are excited to explore the many aspects of life that make us uniquely who we are. How we move and express ourselves makes us who we are! For this event we’ll have the yoga and meditation guides from The Art Of Us studios in Carytown on hand for a large group yoga and meditation session in the gardens. \nKat\, co-owner of TAOU Studio\, artfully crafts each teaching experience with creativity and intention. She believes that through this practice we can practically\, actively\, and consciously move through ourselves\, with ourselves\, in order to know ourselves better on & off the mat. \nKatie\, co-owner of TAOU Studio\, believes art and movement have incredible power to shift our perspectives and improve our lives in meaningful ways. As a yoga instructor\, massage therapist\, and photographer\, she has a deep reverence for bodies and what they are capable of overcoming and achieving. \nThis event will also include a workshop curated by Richmond Young Writers to help young minds express themselves through literature. To close out this event we’ll also have a special Poetry Reading curated by Gallery5. Local poets like “#PoemsforPeopleRVA” will share their words and vibes with the audience. Come explore expression and motion with some of Richmond’s finest community organizations! \n  \nExperience INCANTO: AN OASIS OF LYRICAL SCULPTURE all summer long!\n“Seed of Self” Photo by Tom Hennessy \nDramatically lit from within\, the Incanto sculptures offer multi-sensory experiences inviting further exploration at night.\n \nOn the second Friday evening of each month May\, June\, July\, August\, and September\, the Garden collaborates with Gallery5 and other community partners on programming related to the Incanto exhibit. \n  \n

SUMMARY:GALLERY5 PRESENTS AN INCANTO EVENING OF JAZZ
DESCRIPTION:Richmond\, VA is home to some of the finest jazz musicians in the nation. For years our jazz community has been growing and developing while keeping the beautiful sounds of traditional jazz alive and well. Ayinde Williams is a piano virtuoso from Richmond\, VA\, and is keeping our region’s jazz legacy alive and well by playing with many of Richmond’s finest talents. On June 9th join Ayinde Williams as he performs two sets of jazz music with his band. ART 180\, another lovely Jackson Ward arts organization\, will be providing a local artist to do live painting to the jazz music. Local music organizations WRIR and Classical Revolution RVA will be on hand to connect with the community on their musical offerings for the Richmond region. \nIncanto is a journey through a sculptural\, epic poem embraced by nature. The five monumental sculptures will explore profound concepts of identity and the higher self\, the energy of ancestry\, the transformational present moment\, the perspective of the past\, and finally\, the balance between technology and the source code of our Earth. Visitors will be encouraged to journal and explore sculptures that call to them and resonate with the spoken poetry on an audio narration. Some works will form gathering spaces; some will be symbolic portals to journey through\, and others will invite stillness and meditation. On this night\, through Jazz\, Art and History\, we will honor our Ancestors and reconnect with them as we explore our origins and roots. \nSee schedule of events and menu below. \n  \n  \n“Ancestors” Photo by Tom Hennessy \nDramatically lit from within\, the Incanto sculptures offer multi-sensory experiences inviting further exploration at night.\n \nOn the second Friday evening of each month May\, June\, July\, August\, and September\, the Garden collaborates with Gallery5 and other community partners on programming related to the Incanto exhibit.

SUMMARY:A Year in the Rose Garden
DESCRIPTION:As part of the Richmond Rose Society Show\, join us for a special workshop A Year in the Rose Garden\, free with Garden admission. \nPre-registration required due to capacity limitations. \nThere is not much difference between a rose garden and any other sort of garden.  All gardens require a series of simple tasks performed on a relatively flexible schedule. The results of that attention to your garden will reward your effort. This program gives a month-by-month outline of what to do to have a rose garden you love. Connie Hilker is a longtime rose collector and operated Hartwood Roses\, a former specialty rose nursery. Hilker will be selling and signing copies of her book Heritage Roses: A Collection of Essays and Lessons after her program. \nMasks: Our Garden continues to follow CDC recommendations and state guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19. Properly worn masks are required for indoor class participants regardless of vaccination status. Non-vaccinated participants are also required to wear masks when outdoors and unable to maintain 6 feet of social distancing. The Garden reserves the right to implement additional safety measures. Any updates will be communicated prior to class\, if possible.
