The Beekeeper’s Year: Spring into Summer

Learn the basics of setting up your own backyard beekeeping by following and learning the common tasks that define the rhythm of the beekeeper’s year.  Hands-on instruction, caring for your package, seasonal management, products of the hive, gardening for bees, harvesting honey, and preparing your colony for winter are all included.

Pairs (adult / child–10 years or older, spouses, partners) may register for $15 per additional person.

This class takes place over four Sunday afternoon sessions:

  • Basic terminology, ordering equipment and bees – May 17
  • Locating your apiary, assembly workshop – June 21
  • Frame by frame:  what to look for in the hive – July 19 (rain date July 26)
  • Installing nucs and packages, feeding, supering – August 23 (rain date August 30)
