Strategic public relations and marketing have helped propel Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden to a top garden tourism destination and international recognition.

Beth Monroe has led public relations and marketing efforts as Lewis Ginter Botanical  Garden has grown and reached out to engage and attract audiences. She is committed to the Garden’s mission of education and passion for connecting people and plants to improve communities. The community has shown its appreciation by voting Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden one of the top botanical gardens in the country in USA Today’s 10Best Public Gardens contests.

Beth has presented on the topic of garden tourism at the American Public Garden Association and Garden Tourism Conferences. She works with multiple partners as part of the Richmond Garden Trail, a tourism initiative promoting gardens in Richmond,  Va. at richmondgardentrail.org.

Beth’s educational background includes a bachelor of arts in communication from James Madison University and a master of science in corporate and professional communication from Radford University.

Beth is the  2019 winner of the Thomas Jefferson Award for Excellence recognizing her achievements as a public relations practitioner. The award is the Public Relations Society of America Richmond chapter’s highest honor.  She has her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) and a graduate of Leadership Metro Richmond’s Leadership Quest Class (2020).

Beth’s other interests include volunteering with ReEstablish Richmond and teaching ESL. She recently completed the botanical illustration certificate at the Garden.
