The moth portraits depict moths native to central Virginia. I have seen each of them at my home near Charlottesville. I paint them large. It is intimate. Most people only see these night creatures as a flutter in headlights or at the porch light.

“The natural world has always been a massive point of inspiration and awe for me ever since I was a child. My whole life I hoped to bring that feeling to other people through art and education – these butterflies and moths are my first go at pursuing that passion.
