Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is proud to announce the long-awaited expansion to your Garden is in its last stages before being open to the public Saturday, May 23, 2026. We invite you to explore brand-new and exciting additions to a Garden that you already know and love. For our butterfly lovers, there is now a year-round exhibit in our reopened, expanded conservatory. From over 7 acres of meadows blooming with over 70% native plants to the shining waters of Wick Lake, the Garden offers itself to your imagination.

IMPACT

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is expanding to better serve our growing number of visitors and members as a center for environmental education, programming, and community wellness.

Wick Lake has been expanded to an incredible four acres of wildlife habitat. Visitors to the gardens will be able to enjoy the lake from Martha’s Way walking trail and learn how the lake serves a stormwater management resource while exploring more than seven acres of new gardens featuring native plants.

We will have brand new areas for education – whether you are a student learning in the Jane Hartough Outdoor Classroom, attending a class in the brand new Kroger Courtyard, or learning about the life cycle of butterflies inside of the Atrium: there will be exciting opportunities to spread your wings at Lewis Ginter.
