Wick Lake provides a revitalized habitat for the Garden. It is designed for stormwater management and serves as a water source needed for the care of plants throughout the Garden. With a forebay, wet pond cell and irrigation cell, water runoff is cleansed before being reused across the property.

  1. Underground pipes carry rainwater into the Lake.
  2. In the Forebay, large sediment sinks to the bottom and water flows over the wall.
  3. The Wet Pond Cell allows finer sediment to settle out.
  4. Aquatic Plants use their roots to filter out extra nutrients.
  5. The Central Spillway allows water to flow into the irrigation cell when the wet  pond cell is full.
  6. The Irrigation Cell holds clean water for plants in the Garden.
  7. Underwater fountains reduce algae growth.
