Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden’s Splendor Under Glass fundraiser is an invitation-only, black tie gala staged in the dramatic and spectacular glass Conservatory. The theme for 2011 is Joie de Vivre -- Joy of Living!

On November 19, 2011 we will come together to celebrate the delights of France – its exquisite food, style and romance. This memorable evening will be filled with festivities including an elegant dinner, entertainment, and a special preview of GardenFest of Lights 2011. The Garden is also introducing its first ever online auction in connection with the Splendor Under Glass gala. In honor of the Joie de Vivre theme, auction prizes celebrate life’s pleasures and range from gift certificates and gardening tools to once-in-a-lifetime experiences such as winery tours, golf outings, jazz cruises and even a trip to Paris!

In 2010, the event raised more than $300,000, and this year we hope to break that record. The Gala serves as one of the Garden’s main source of income, and proceeds from the Gala and auction support the Garden’s mission to enlighten, inspire and educate the community, allowing the Garden to grow special outreach programs and projects. Through educational programs for disadvantaged youth, donated produce for the Central Virginia Foodbank and our role as a consultant for special community gardens and park resources, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden impacts the growth of not only plants, but our community as well.

The Garden’s first Splendor Under Glass was held in March 2003, celebrating the grand opening of the Conservatory and was highlighted in the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Virginia Magazine and Richmond Magazine. With such a beautiful setting, the Gala continues to be a premiere Richmond event year after year.
