ONE-DAY RELAXATION WORKSHOPS

NEW! Natural Incense Workshop | January 24 | IN-PERSON

Join Conservatory Horticulturist Clare Reines for a hands-on workshop where you learn to make your own incense using natural ingredients! She will cover the science and rich history behind incense making, and teach you how to work with resins, herbs, oils, and wood to create your own unique blend.

NEW! Roll and Relax | March 12 | IN-PERSON

Learn ball rolling and relaxation exercises to release built up tension and reset the musculoskeletal system into a more easeful stance. These somatic and self-massage exercises improve posture, sleep, and general wellbeing.

NEW! Herbalism 101: Tisanes and Tinctures | April 4 | IN-PERSON

Explore the ancient and modern practice of herbalism through the lens of tisanes (herbal infusions) and tinctures (herbal extracts). This introductory workshop invites participants to deepen their understanding of plant medicine, its roots in Indigenous and traditional healing systems, its journey through time, and its role in personal and community wellness today. Through hands-on learning, storytelling, and guided sensory exploration, participants will engage directly with herbs to experience how they support body, mind, and spirit. We’ll examine herbs growing in the garden, discuss their uses, and sample preparations made from both locally grown and wildcrafted plants.

NEW! The Botanical Body: Gardening Practices for Mindfulness | April 18 | IN-PERSON

Gardening provides many physical and mental benefits beyond just creating a beautiful space to enjoy. Learn how to incorporate therapeutic design techniques into your space, and ways to maintain your garden that nurtures both your well-being and also local wildlife. At the end of the course we will take a walk around the garden and practice some of the mindfulness techniques outlined in the course. Students will take home a garden journal and three native perennial or medicinal plants to add to their own healing garden.

NEW! Writing in the Garden | April 25 | IN-PERSON

The garden in spring is a magical place for writing. This class will feature a mix of modern plant science, philosophy, and creative writing – and how a deeper understanding of plant intelligence can inform how we think and write about our shared world. We’ll begin in the classroom with an interactive lesson and writing exercises before moving outside to explore with pen and paper. We’ll learn from specific plants but also take time for writing openly in beautiful spring garden spaces. This class is open to writers of all levels and genre interests.

NEW! The Qi of Trees | April 26 | IN-PERSON

Discover gentle Qigong movements and mindful practices inspired by the wisdom and vitality of trees. In this immersive workshop, you’ll explore how trees can guide us in rooting deeply, standing with strength and grace, and recognizing the web of connection that links all living things. Together, we will learn to sense and align with the healing energies of trees, enhancing both well-being and harmony with nature. The experience includes walking among the gardens, pausing to engage with trees in ways that awaken awareness and appreciation.
