In the Garden
WITH TOM HENNESSY

Many of the beautiful images in Garden publications, Instagram, and on our web page are by photographer Tom Hennessy. Join him for this workshop to polish your own skills. Following a brief introduction, join Tom in the Garden to photograph fall flowers, foliage and landscapes. Spend your lunch hour in the classroom editing your photos, and finish the day sharing your results with the class. Students should have a DSLR camera and a laptop to edit images. A tripod, polarizer and neutral density filters are also helpful. Lunch is on your own.

Our Garden continues to follow CDC recommendations and state guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19. Properly worn masks are strongly encouraged for indoor class participants regardless of vaccination status. The Garden reserves the right to implement additional safety measures. Any updates will be communicated prior to class, if possible.

In the Garden with Tom HennessyAbout the instructor

Tom Hennessy studied photography at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in the late 1970s using 35mm film cameras, and had his own darkroom for black and white printing. But his “day job” limited time for photography until his retirement in 2016. He purchased his first DSLR camera in 2011 and became focused on relearning photography in the digital age. He has taken many of the beautiful images of the Garden that you see on the website. He emphasizes taking photographs that require minimal editing. He is an artist in residence at Crossroads Art Center, and travels around the world and the U.S. visiting botanical gardens and experiencing different landscapes.
