SEEING
COLOR

This exhibit is inspired by individuals with color vision deficiencies. Seeing Color explores the relationships between colors and textures. This series offers an exploratory experience for all, with a focus on people who live with colorblindness. Color plays a significant role in the natural world signaling change, providing protection, and evoking attraction. Curiosity arises when we contemplate infinite personal experiences of being in nature. We can observe the same specimen and see it differently. Beneath the surface of these works, viewers are presented with an opportunity to consider how they see color while sitting with the fact that not all color is seen equally. What we see is unique to our physical abilities, involuntary bodily functions, perception, and our combined senses. While we are connected by our shared habitats, how they are experienced and perceived is individual.
