Chief Operating Officer
Kim earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management from Virginia Commonwealth University. After gaining extensive experience in the insurance industry and food management professions, she joined Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in 2005 as Facility Events Assistant Coordinator. She has served in increasingly responsible positions at the Garden since then, culminating in her promotion to Chief Operating Officer in 2018.
As COO, Kim oversees the Garden’s enterprise revenue centers (Admissions, Facility Events and the Garden Shop,) support departments (IT, Operations, Maintenance and Security) and the Garden’s food service contractor, Meriwether Godsey, Inc. She is responsible for nurturing a supportive and engaging work environment for staff and volunteers. She ensures that the daily work of the Garden and its mission are accomplished effectively and efficiently by integrating the activities of staff directors and senior leadership in cross-departmental cooperation through policy, procedures and personal example.
Kim is an expert in hospitality, organizational leadership and developing employees to their full potential. She possesses a true passion for people and logistics, embracing the Garden’s core value of hospitality as we work to welcome visitors, members, volunteers and staff from Richmond’s diverse communities.
