Bringing Leaves to Life
with Julia Trickey

In this four-session class, Julia Trickey shows how to paint one of her favorite subjects in watercolor – leaves. Learn how to bring leaves to life, five ways to approach depicting leaf veins, how to go about mixing greens and ways to paint a range of different leaf portraits starting with a relatively simple shiny leaf. Packed with tips and techniques for painting leaves in watercolor. Registrants receive a video of each week’s class, available for a limited time.

Botanical Illustration Certificate Student Prerequisite: Introduction to Drawing, Intermediate Drawing and Introduction to Watercolor

Public prerequisite:  This is not a beginning class. Some drawing and painting experience is required to make this a satisfying experience. Please note that if you do not have prior experience with the botanical art discipline, it may be different from what you are familiar with.

 

About the Instructor

Julia Trickey is an award winning UK botanical artist and experienced tutor, whose glowing watercolors depict the beauty and detail of nature. She has been painting botanical watercolors for many years, has exhibited all around the world and has received numerous awards for her botanical watercolors including four RHS gold medals. Her British Flora illustrations have been seen on Royal Mail Post & Go stamps. Julia is an experienced tutor, teaching regular classes in the beautiful historic English city of Bath as well as leading workshops for botanical art groups a far afield as Moscow, New York and Transylvania. She has written practical articles for national magazines as well as self-published various botanical art resources (available through her Etsy shop).
