Drawing

This four week class guides you step by step through breaking down the fundamentals of accurate drawing. It is designed for beginning as well as advanced artists who want a thorough progression in drawing using graphite. Each lesson is broken down using pre-recorded videos, live demonstrations, assignments, and personal feedback from the instructor. Topics include: perspective, light source, negative space, measuring and more. A supply list and introductory video about supplies is sent upon registration.

GES: BI, 12, elective.  This class offers 12 hours of elective credit toward the Garden Education Series: Botanical Illustration Certificate.  Non-certificate students and students interested in exploring the certificate are welcome.

Meet the Instructor

Artist Mindy Lighthipe is passionate about getting out into the natural world and discovering the beauty in every rock, stream and forest. With this passion she carefully studies her subjects in their environment. She carefully and accurately draws her compositions often creating full detailed drawings in pencil before going onto color. She received her 210 hour certification in botanical illustration from the New York Botanical Garden and then went on to teach extensively in the program.
