LOWER BACK PAIN

Cancel your back pain through the 6 movements of the spine, functional movement exercises, postural imagery and breathing techniques. This workshop will also guide you through self-massage and imagery techniques that can help to cancel your back pain. Exercises and information within this workshop come from the book Pelvic Power For Men and Women, mind/body exercises for strength, flexibility, posture and balance, by Eric Franklin. Students need to be able to get down on the floor and get back up. Wear fitted clothing suitable for gentle exercise, ball rolling and self-massage. Bring a yoga mat and 2 large bath or beach towels, and a bottle of water. Dress in active clothing that covers the skin and is not baggy.

About the Instructor

Rie Monique Cherie is a local movement specialist and master instructor offering classes and workshops in the Richmond Area since 1993. Qualifications include BFA in Dance and Choreography, VCU 1993, Master Teacher Cas Overton, Tai Chi, and multiple certifications in Yoga and DNI® (Dynamic Neurocognitive Imagery, a.k.a. The Franklin Method). She now focuses on offering postural and wellness instruction through the Five Elements form of Tai Chi, yoga, and relaxation workshops. Rie has been teaching the Five Elements form and offering various wellness workshops at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden since 2009. She is known for being a dynamic teacher, and students always leave feeling a greater sense of wellbeing.
