This class covers the material in the third class of “Intermediate Drawing for Botanical Illustration.” For more detail on class content, students can consult their Intermediate Drawing Student Notebook, class #3. Intermediate Drawing students whose class was cut short by pandemic mandates in March 2020 will receive 5 hours of required credit toward completion of “Intermediate Drawing.” Prerequisites: “Intermediate Drawing for Botanical Illustration” classes 1 and 2. Any other student who has completed the prerequisites is welcome to register for the class and will receive 5 hours of elective credit.

Our Garden continues to follow CDC recommendations and state guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19. We are encouraging universal indoor masking while in public spaces for all regardless of vaccination status. Non-vaccinated participants are required to wear masks when indoors or when outdoors and unable to maintain 6 feet of social distancing.

Intermediate Drawing for Botanical Illustration classes 1 & 2, are the required prerequisites for this class.

*This is required for students who were enrolled in the 2020 Intermediate Drawing for Botanical Illustration class that was cancelled due to Covid-19. The class provides elective credit for others enrolled in the Botanical Illustration Certificate program.

About the Instructor

Hazel Buys holds a certificate in Botanical Illustration from Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. In addition to botanical painting, she has developed a body of work in landscape, figure and portraiture, and work based on the Japanese kimono in the tradition of still-life.
