WildFLOWERS & WallFLOWERS: Art by Laura Flournoy

“Beauty is everywhere,” Laura Flournoy says with a smile. “You never have to look far.” Flournoy’s uncanny ability to recognize beauty in the everyday began as a child while helping her mother cultivate morning glories and roses. Those joyful memories … a growing love of nature … and a passion for expressing color, form, and texture through photography and art – all inspire Flournoy to artistically record the world around her. She carries a sketchpad wherever she goes: as she tends her garden, harvests “yard flowers” (as she lovingly calls them), or works at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. “I love flowers, and through my art and nature journaling I keep their beauty and memory fresh, for myself and for sharing with others.”
