Alcohol Inks

Alcohol inks create instant magic, and the possibilities and surprises of this versatile media are infinite. Vibrant and fast-drying, they can be applied to non-porous surfaces such as glass, tile, or metal. Using the images and colors of winter and the beauty of the Garden as inspiration, participants will create their designs on tiles. Every alcohol ink painting is one of a kind. Every subject matter is a new experience with new techniques and surprises. All levels are welcome. No prior experience is necessary. Please note that alcohol inks will stain clothing, so come prepared to get messy. Also, this class is for adults only, as alcohol inks are not approved for use by children.

Fees: Member $59, Non-Member $68

Intermediate Alcohol InksAbout the Instructor

Throughout her career, Shelley Row has taught art at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in Chesterfield County Schools. She has had her own studio and gallery, taught “in home” painting workshops, and served as adjunct faculty for the VCU Art Education Department. She strongly believes in everyone’s ability to create and the pure joy to be found through “playing” with a variety of art media. As a practicing visual artist, she also understands the absolute necessity of the arts in society and advocates for the visual and performing arts.

“Teaching at Lewis Ginter has been the greatest gift of my retirement years. I have had the privilege of working surrounded by beautiful, ever-changing inspiration and meeting the most wonderful people.”
