Human Resources Manager
LaToria Barham is a human resource professional well-versed in customer-focused approaches to business and relationship-building. She has experience in both non-profit and corporate settings. LaToria’s success in the workforce demonstrates discipline, energy, and a desire to work hard and excel. She is known for her leadership, resourcefulness, and loyalty. LaToria is a life-long learner an active collaborator and most of all, a true people person. The most rewarding part of her position is assisting employees with complex issues.
Currently, her focus is on Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden’s key organizational objectives and on integrating the Garden’s core values of inspiration, hospitality, integrity and innovation. Through her staff development programs, she aims to align people to organizational goals. LaToria is interested in expanding the Garden’s workforce through creative recruiting to expand the diversity of the Garden’s staff. Her areas of strength include coaching, employee relations, team member engagement, workers’ compensation, process improvement, communication, benefits and compensation, and state and federal compliance. Her excellent communication skills allow her to effectively interact with internal team members, board members/executives, visitors and members. LaToria has proven the ability to work independently and thrive in high-pressure demanding environments and she has proven experience with the positive resolution of complex issues.
LaToria recently relocated to Richmond from Seattle, WA. She is a native of North Carolina. She has a Bachelor of Science from Livingstone College and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix with concentrations in Human Resources Management and Psychology. LaToria is up to date with human resources best practices. She has two grown children and one grandchild. In her free time, you will find LaToria, volunteering her time with the homeless, traveling, taking photos, or horseback riding.
