Stickman Says, "Thanks for all the Letters!"

Write a letter to StickmanWith Patrick Dougherty’s arrival at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden next week, many of us, including the kids who frequent the Children’s Garden, have been  on the edge of our seats in anticipation.  Since earlier this month children who visit the Garden have been “on the hunt” for the bearded lad made of sticks, who hides in a new spot each Thursday.  Stickman, an ambassador for the “Meadowmorphosis” stick sculpture exhibit (May 2-22 & beyond),  is becoming quite popular with the children.  In fact, they’ve started writing letters — lots of letters — to his family letting them know about his adventures in the Garden.  Also, they’ve been writing to Stickman, telling him all the things that they’ve seen in the Garden. Turtle drawing for Stickman

Stickman and his family have really been enjoying getting all this mail. In fact, Children’s Garden Educator, Dawn Lipscomb says, “Stickman has gotten so much mail this week that I am afraid that it has gone to his head.  He has taken up residence on the —-  because he thinks he is too cool.”   (Ooops. Sorry I had to block that last part out. I wouldn’t to give away Stickman’s location this week.  But if you need a hint,  Dawn keeps reminding me that he is ALWAYS up high.)

Here are a few of our favorite letters to Stickman.  Thank you for sending them! And if you see Stickman, in the Children’s Garden — pretend like you have no idea who he is so it doesn’t all go to his head! We don’t want him to start thinking he’s a celebrity!

I love the honesty  of kids. They are so simple and so complex at the same time:Letter to Stickman

Well Stickman.  I did my kid gest (KidQuest) thing. And I did not know you had a beard.

Kids, stay tuned. I think Stickman may be about to write a letter back.
