Here’s an excerpt from our weekly staff update — aptly named: The TWIG (This Week in Ginter) written by the Garden’s Executive Director, Shane Tippet.   The TWIG is a great way for our staff to stay up to date on key happenings at the Garden.   Many of us especially love it because often Shane shares stories of the staff and our visitors that are touching. Stories like these make me  stop and appreciate all that we have here at the Garden, and the intimate ways in which we touch people’s lives.

As many of you know “Stickman” is a Children’s Garden adventurer, who travels around the garden under the careful eye of Dawn Lipscomb, Educator.  Stickman is pursued and identified by similar young adventurers who visit our Garden.  A young former member sent us a present this week with the accompanying note:   “To whom it may concern:  I am sending a wife for Stickman.  I made her from tree clippings.  It was a stick that was still alive so I could peel off the bark.  I used some yarn to per her arms on.  When I was in Virginia I loved finding Stickman, but now that I’m in Missouri I can’t look for him so that’s why I’m sending Stickman a wife. I miss going to the Botanical Gardens in the spring and summer, I wish I could go there.  Sincerely, Grace”

Needless to say, we love Grace and her note — and Stickman is so happy to have a wife! Thank you Grace.

Here’s the latest update on Stickman’s location for those of you who are tracking him in the Garden.

Good morning, friends!

Stickman is coming back down the hill,

He’s been at the top long enough.

He said that he really enjoyed himself,

And that Grant and the staff know their stuff!

But with Father’s Day here in a few short days,

His Dad’s come to see where he works.

Stickman wants to impress his big Papa dear,

To show him the places he lurks.

So come down the hill to the Wavy Walkway,

It won’t be hard to find them.

They’ll be standing together beside a lamp post,

The picture will be quite a gem!

Always up high,J

Miss Dawn
