It’s been another hot but productive week in the Community Kitchen Garden.  We hit our first 1,000 lbs. of produce this week with help from a group from Forest City Enterprises on Monday and young volunteers participating in the Youth Volunteer Program, which kicked off this week.  The YVP is a summer program for youth volunteers offering them an opportunity to learn more about food production while giving back to the Garden and to the community.

This week we donated 387 lbs. to Feedmore’s Community Kitchen. Here’s what they’ll be cooking with this week: Swiss chard: 29 lbs, okra: 5 lbs, cherry tomatoes: 6 lbs, Roma tomatoes: 16 lbs, Squash/zucchini: 194 lbs, potatoes: 41 lbs, cucumbers: 63 lbs., eggplant: 14 lbs., leeks: 16 lbs, and peppers: 3 lbs.

Our total donations so far this year are up to 1,326 lbs. !
