Top Ten

by Albert Brian Vick  Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, Community Kitchen Garden Coordinator

Always a provocative title, but here’s the thing. You’ve seen the pie tins hung in gardens to keep birds away, right? Well, this is the modern version. It’s too long a story to describe where I first saw this idea, but it’s been working so far.

The title comes from Tommy Bacote, Capital District Director of the BSA Heart of Virginia Council and a member of the Richmond Appalachian State University alumni group. Many thanks to the Appy State alumni who worked several hours  in the Lewis Ginter Community Kitchen Garden – in brutal 100 degree heat.

Tommy said this CD approach must be a “Top Ten” idea.

Apparently birds don't like loud music.
