by Jane Hockaday, Library Volunteer, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

Frabel Ghost orchid in the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden LibraryLast week I decided to take a short stroll to look at some of my favorite pieces in the Hans Godo Frabel‘s Glorious Glass in the Garden exhibit.

In the Library, the installations are situated on top of the book shelves. I took a close look at the Ghost Orchid and Embrea rodigasiana orchid pieceGold Frabel Mask in the Conservatorys.

Just inside the door of the Conservatory is one of my favorites of the Masks. Frabel Glass masks with orchids at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden's Conservatory

My other favorite mask has a haunting quality.

I had to look closely… I almost missed the frog. Yellow Frabel Frog in the Conservatory

I had to ask myself… is it real? Or is it Frabel? Frabel Glass Pitcher Plants at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in the Conservatory

The Glorious Glass will be in the Garden through January 10, 2011. Don’t miss the chance to see these wonderful examples of artistry in glass. Visit often. Look closely. You won’t want to miss a single piece.
