Spring PlantFest

Spring PlantFest Are you ready for this year’s Spring PlantFest plant sale? The greenhouse is chock full of plants that are ready and eager for spring and Spring PlantFest is a Richmond tradition. Plants for each year’s sale are chosen by a selection committee, which brings you Garden favorites (including lots of natives) and trendy new plants too. PlantFest has been a perennial favorite of Central Virginia gardeners since it began in 1987 as our Spring Plant Sale. The Garden’s plant sales are now among the largest in the region with more than 55 vendors selling plants ranging from well-known favorites to rare exotics. Spring PlantFest will have new vendors, music from local artists, hourly door prize drawings, Master Gardeners on site to answer questions, children’s activities and food and beverages available for purchase. All of the sales benefit the Garden’s educational mission.

Volunteer Run Sale

Spring PlantFest PlantFest is run by Garden volunteers, many of whom helped grow the plants from seedlings or plugs right here in Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. Volunteers work year round preparing for the plant sales and take part in every step of the growing process. Their experience and expertise make for a unique learning experience for shoppers who want help choosing plants.  In addition to advice from volunteers, we’ll have experts on hand from Virginia Cooperative Extension office to help answer any gardening questions you may have. We’re creating a fun day that will encourage you to come select your garden finds from the best regional plant selection, and also allow you to spend some time with us enjoying live music, visiting with other plant lovers and getting to know your local extension agent. We’ve also got lots of great tools, and other gardening accouterments in the Garden Shop. Garden Members receive 15 percent off all purchases during our plant sales.
