Worth Their Weight in Gold

by Albert Brian Vick  Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, Community Kitchen Garden Coordinator

These three volunteers may have set a harvesting record yesterday in the Lewis Ginter Community Kitchen Garden. Within just three hours they collected ten cases of tomatoes and four cases of summer squash. We could go through the math of the retail value of 500 pounds of garden-fresh produce compared to the current price of an ounce of gold, but that really doesn’t begin to measure the true value of these volunteers.
